Why it’s important to have career planning information is because you want to be prepared. You definitely don’t want to get yourself to the point of having no idea on what you want to do. You need to always be one step ahead. Its crazy important to understand your skills and what you are capable of doing. You need to understand what the present marketplace has a demand for.
You need to always be keeping track of your skills for your own career planning information. It really doesn’t hurt to sit down periodically and right down all the new things you have learned within and outside your industry. You should keep this quite official and make sure you have access to it at your home sometime. Why I say keep all your records at home is because quite often when you are released from a company you are never given any time to get your belongings. It’s great to be a faithful worker but at the end of the day you need to take care of yourself. So don’t leave anything in your desk or locker if you aren’t willing to lose it on the day you are relieved of your duties.
